Create a resume
Turn on the Resume module, then build an online resume (yours, or a team member's) with your experience, skills and contact details, or fill it in from LinkedIn.
The Resume module gives your website online resumes: a clean one-page profile with your experience, skills, certifications and contact details, and a Download PDF button. Business owners use it to show who's behind the company (for example the owner's or lead estimator's credentials), and it helps search engines and AI tools know who you are.
Each resume is its own page, like /resume/ or /resumes/brandon-hill/. You can have as many as you like, and one of them is your main resume.
Turn on the Resume module
Resume comes with PageShift, but it isn't installed on new sites.
- Go to Modules in the sidebar.
- Scroll down to Included with the CMS, not installed and click Install (1) on the Resume card. It says "Resume 2.0.6 installed. Click Activate to turn it on."
- Click Activate (1) on the Resume card. It says "Resume is now active."
Resumes now appears in the sidebar under Content.
The Resumes list
Go to Content → Resumes. It works like the Pages list: search, filter by Published, Drafts or Trash, and use Bulk actions. Click Add New (1) for a new resume, or click a resume's name (2) to edit it.
Add a resume
- Go to Content → Resumes and click Add New.
- Type a Resume name (1). Only you see it in the admin; it also makes the address (
/resumes/brandon-hill/). - Click Create draft (2). The resume builder opens.
To edit the sample resume instead, click its name in the list (Main resume).
Fill it in from LinkedIn (optional)
A new resume can copy its details from a LinkedIn profile, so you don't have to type everything.
- On LinkedIn, open the profile and click Resources → Save to PDF.
- Open the PDF, select all its text (Ctrl+A, or Cmd+A on a Mac) and copy it.
- In the resume builder, paste it into LinkedIn PDF text (1).
- Click Fill from LinkedIn (2). It says "Filled in from LinkedIn. Review each part, then click Save draft or Publish."
The name, headline, contact details, summary, jobs, education, skills, languages and certifications are filled in. Check each part: the LinkedIn headline usually needs shortening (for example "Lead Roofer at Summit Ridge Roofing" becomes "Lead Roofer").
Header and contact details
- Name (1): the person's name, shown large at the top.
- Titles under your name (2): one per line, for example "Owner & General Manager" and "Licensed Roofing Contractor".
- Current job title (for search engines) (3), Current employer and Employer website: these aren't shown as text, but they tell Google who this person is and where they work.
- Under Contact details (4), each row has a Label ("Email"), what it's Shown as, and an optional Link. Use
mailto:for an email, tel:for a phone number (so it can be tapped on a phone) andhttps://for a website or LinkedIn. Click + Add (5) for another row; ↑ moves a row up and ✕ removes it.
Highlights and profile
- Highlight numbers: up to 4 big numbers across the top, each with a short line under it ("18 yrs" / "in residential and commercial roofing"). Only use real numbers you can back up.
- Profile: a short paragraph about the person and what they do best. Wrap words in
**double asterisks**to make them bold.
Experience
Each job is a row in Experience.
- Click + Add job (4). A new job opens at the top of the list.
- Fill in Role, Company, Dates (for example "2014 – Present") and Location.
- Type each achievement on its own line in Achievements (one per line) (3). Start with what you did and add a number when you can.
- Tick Current role (2) for the job the person has now. It gets a "Current" label on the resume.
- Drag a job by its handle (1) to change the order. Edit opens a job and Close folds it again; Remove deletes it.
Skills
Type one skill per line. To show a level bar, add a level from 1 to 5 after a |, for example Estimating | 5. Without levels, skills show as tags.
Education, certifications and more
The other boxes work the same way: click + Add for a row, ↑ to move it up, ✕ to remove it.
| Box | What to put in it |
|---|---|
| Languages | Language and level ("Spanish", "Fluent") |
| Education | Degree, then school and years |
| Certifications | Certification, then issuer and year (licenses fit here too) |
| Projects | Project, what you did, and an optional link |
| Volunteering | Role and organization, then dates and what you did |
| Awards | Award, then issuer and year |
| References | Name, title and company, and an optional contact. Only list people who agreed to it |
Empty boxes don't show on the resume. To hide a box that has content, untick it under Sections (see Resume layouts, PDF and your main resume).
Save and publish
Use the Publish box at the top, or the buttons at the bottom of the builder:
- Save draft keeps your changes without publishing.
- Preview ↗ opens the resume in a new tab, including changes you haven't saved.
- Publish puts it on your website. It says "Resume published at /resumes/brandon-hill/."
While you have unsaved changes, "Unsaved changes" shows next to the buttons, and the browser warns you if you try to leave the page.
