Add a page
Start a new page from a ready-made layout or a copy of another page, then fill it in and publish it.
A new page always starts as a draft: only you and your team can see it until you publish it. You can start from a ready-made layout, so the page already has a hero, text sections, an FAQ and a call to action in your site's design. You only replace the sample text.
Create the page
- Go to Content → Pages and click Add New. (Or click + New at the top of the admin, then New page.)
- Type the page's title (1), for example
Spring Roof Check-Up. It also becomes the page's address:/spring-roof-check-up/. You can change both later. - Under Choose a starting layout, pick one (2). Each card lists the sections you get.
- Or choose Copy an existing page (3) and pick the page in the list, to start from its exact design and text.
- Click Create Draft (4).
| Starting layout | Good for | What's in it |
|---|---|---|
| Blank page | Pages you build yourself | A simple hero. Add the rest with Add section. |
| Content page | Guides, about-style pages, articles | Hero, short answer box, text sections, text with image, FAQ, call to action. |
| Service page | One page per service | The same structure as your service pages: hero with checklist, who it's for, scope, process, case studies, FAQ, call to action. |
| Landing page | Ads and campaigns | Hero, client names, stats, benefits, text and image, testimonials, FAQ, call to action. |
| Copy an existing page | A page like one you have | The exact design and text of the page you pick. |
If another page already uses the address, PageShift adds a number, for example /spring-roof-check-up-2/.
The page's settings screen
After Create Draft, the page's settings screen opens with the message Draft created. Click any text to replace it, use Add section for more blocks, then Publish.
- Edit with PageShift (1) opens the page in the PageShift editor. This is where you change the words, pictures and sections.
- The title (2) is the page's name in the admin. The headline visitors see is part of the page itself.
- Permalink (3) is the page's address. See Change a page's address.
- The content box (4) shows the page. On a new page made from a layout, it's the classic editor. See Imported pages and the classic editor.
- Publish (5) shows the Status, the page Type, and the Save Draft, Preview and Publish buttons.
- Header and footer (6) lets this page use a different header or footer, or none. See Choose a page's header and footer.
Further down are the SEO box (focus keyphrase, SEO title, meta description, social sharing) and, on the right, the SEO Analysis with what to improve. The Revisions box lists earlier versions. If your site has more than one language, a Languages box shows here too.
Fill in the page
- Click Edit with PageShift (1).
- The layout's sections open ready to edit. Click any heading, text, picture or button and replace the sample text. See Edit text, pictures and buttons.
- Delete the sections you don't need, and add others. See Sections, columns and widgets.
- Click Publish at the top right. The page is live.
Page types
The Type in the Publish box sorts your pages. Service pages show under the Services filter of the Pages list, and Case Study pages under Content → Case Studies. Pages you make with Add New are of the type Page. Change the type and click Update if you need to.
Who can do this
Anyone whose role includes Pages and Global Blocks can add pages, such as the ready-made Editor role. Editors can't add scripts to a page: PageShift removes them when the page is saved. Administrators add code in System → Code Snippets or in the page's SEO Advanced tab.
