Quizzes and the question bank
Write questions in the question bank, build a graded or practice quiz, set its tries, time limit and passing score, and open it for each class.
Quizzes check what students know. Most questions grade themselves; short answers and recordings go to the teacher's Grading inbox. Every question lives in the question bank, so you can reuse it.
Teachers make quizzes for their own courses. Teaching assistants can't change quizzes or questions, but they can set a quiz's dates for their classes.
Make a quiz
- Open the course's outline (Teaching → Courses → Outline) and click New quiz. (Or Teaching → Library → Add quiz.)
- Type the Title, for example
Fall Protection Quiz. - Choose the Kind: Graded (counts in the gradebook) or Practice (unlimited tries, not graded).
- Click Add quiz. It's added to the outline. Next, add its questions.
Add questions
- On the quiz, click Write a new question (1).
- Choose the Type (1) and the Points (2).
- Type the Question (3) and fill in the answers. For multiple choice, tick the circle of the right answer (4).
- Choose the Difficulty and type Tags (5), such as
ladders. Random quizzes pick questions by tag. - Add a Hint (shown in practice quizzes after a wrong answer) and an Explanation (shown with the right answer after the quiz) if you like.
- Click Save question, or Save and write another.
The quiz lists its questions in order. Drag them by ⋮⋮ or use the arrows, and click Preview (3) to take the quiz as a student would.
To add questions you already wrote, tick them under the list and click Add to the quiz. To add many at once, click Import from a spreadsheet: one question per row, with the headings Type, Question, Option 1, Option 2… and Answer. Download the sample file on the import screen shows the layout.
The question bank
Teaching → Questions lists every question with its type, difficulty, points and how many quizzes use it. Add question (1) writes one; Import (2) adds many from a spreadsheet. Tick Share with the school on a question so other teachers can use it, and use Make a copy to change your own version.

Under Dates in each class, set when the quiz Opens and Closes for each class, and click Save dates. Leave them empty to keep it open.
Students take the quiz on its lesson page. Answers save as they go.
Flashcards and games
