Your audience: subscribers, tags and segments
See your newsletter subscribers and their history, organize them with tags and segments, and import or export your list.
The Audience tab of the newsletter shows everyone who can receive your emails, what they received and what they did with it. Tags and segments let you send the right email to the right people.
Go to Email → Newsletter and open the Audience tab.
Find subscribers
- Choose a Status (1): Confirmed, Waiting for confirmation, Unsubscribed, Bounced or All. Each shows how many people it has.
- Type a tag in Tag (2) to see only people with that tag.
- Type a name or email in Search.
- Click Filter.
The buttons Segments (3) and Import & export (4) are explained below.
The list shows each Subscriber, their Status, Tags, Source (the page they signed up on, or "import") and when they Signed up. Only confirmed subscribers receive emails.
Open a person
Click an email address to see:
- their status, source and dates, and the name and phone they gave;
- First name and Tags, which you can change. Click Save;
- Unsubscribe this person, for someone who asked you to stop;
- Automations: each sequence they're in and how far they are;
- History: every email they received, opened and clicked.
Tags
Tags are short labels such as customers, homeowners or storm. People get tags:
- when you type them on the person's page;
- when you import them with tags;
- from the topics they tick on their preferences page;
- from automation steps (+ Add tag, + Remove tag).
Segments: groups that update themselves
A segment is a saved filter, for example "everyone tagged customers". You can send a broadcast to a segment instead of to everyone.
Click Segments.
Under New segment, type a Name, for example "Past customers".
Under Include people who match, choose all of these or any of these.
Set the rules. Each rule has a field, a condition and a value:
Field Conditions Tag has, does not have Source contains, does not contain Signed up in the last (days), more than (days) ago Clicked any email in the last (days), not in the last (days) Opened any email in the last (days), not in the last (days) Click Save segment. PageShift says how many confirmed subscribers match.
Segments update by themselves as people sign up, get tags or unsubscribe. Click Delete next to a segment to remove it.
Import a list
Only import people who agreed to receive your emails, for example customers who ticked "send me tips" on your contract.
- Click Import & export.
- Choose a CSV file (1) with the columns email, first name and tags, or paste the lines under Or paste (2), one person per line:
email, first name, tags. - Under Add these tags to everyone imported (3), type a tag that says where they came from, for example
home-show-2026. - Tick These people agreed to receive emails from me (4).
- Click Import (5).
PageShift says how many were added, how many were already on the list (their tags are merged) and how many lines were skipped. Imported people are confirmed straight away.
Export and clean up
Under Export and clean up:
- Export confirmed, Export everyone or Export unsubscribed download a spreadsheet file.
- Tag inactive subscribers tags people who received 3 or more emails but haven't opened or clicked in 90 days as
inactive. The Re-engagement automation can then ask whether they still want your emails. Removing inactive people protects your sender reputation.
The simpler subscriber list in Email → Subscribers shows the same people. See The Subscribers list.
