Connect Brevo, Mailchimp and other services

Send your confirmed subscribers to an outside email service automatically with Newsletter Sync, and optionally email new blog posts to that list.

If you already send your newsletters from an outside service such as Brevo or Mailchimp, Newsletter Sync keeps that list up to date. Every subscriber who confirms on your website is added to your list there, and people who unsubscribe on your site are removed. It can also turn each new blog post into an email.

Go to Email → Newsletter Sync. Only Administrators can open it. The badge next to the title says Not connected or which service you're connected to.

Newsletter Sync

Connect your service

  1. Under Email service (1), choose your service: SendFox, Brevo, Mailchimp, MailerLite, Kit (ConvertKit), ActiveCampaign, GetResponse, EmailOctopus, beehiiv or Mailjet.
  2. In your service's account, create an API key. The help under the API key box says where, for example "Brevo: Settings → SMTP & API → API keys."
  3. Paste it in API key (2). ActiveCampaign also asks for the API URL, and Mailjet for the Secret key.
  4. Click Check connection and load lists (3). The message says "Connected. Found N lists."
  5. Choose the list to fill (4). Depending on the service this box is called List, Audience (Mailchimp), Group (MailerLite), Tag (Kit), Publication (beehiiv) or Contact list (Mailjet).
  6. Click Save settings. The badge changes to Connected to and your service.

The API key is stored encrypted. When you reload the page, the box says "Saved (leave empty to keep it)".

Send the people who subscribed before

New subscribers sync by themselves from now on. For everyone who confirmed before you connected:

  1. Find Existing subscribers. It says how many confirmed subscribers you have.
  2. Click Sync all confirmed subscribers once.

Only confirmed people are sent; pending and unsubscribed people are not. Clicking it again doesn't create doubles.

Email new blog posts (optional)

Under New blog posts, choose what happens When you publish a post (5):

Choice What happens
Don't email it Nothing.
Create a draft email for me to review and send A draft "New post: [title]" with a Read the article button is created in your service. You check it and send it there.
Email it to the list right away The email goes to your whole list as soon as the post is published.

Fill in the Sender name and the Sender email, which must be a verified sender in your service, and click Save settings.

Only posts published after you turn this on are emailed, each post only once. Scheduled posts are emailed when they go live. Updating a post doesn't send it again.

Check the Sync log

The Sync log at the bottom lists what happened, newest first: "Added … to …", "Removed … (unsubscribed on your site)", drafts created for posts. A line with a Problem badge means something failed, for example "Could not add …". The most common cause is an API key that was deleted or changed in the service: paste a new one and click Save settings.

Switch service or disconnect

  • To move to another service, choose it under Email service, paste its key, load its lists, pick one and save. The contacts in the old service stay there.
  • To stop syncing, click Disconnect followed by the service name (for example Disconnect Brevo), next to the check button, and confirm. The saved API key and list are removed. Your subscribers on this site stay, and nothing is deleted in the service. For full security, also delete the key in your service's account.
