Add a product
Create a product with its name, pictures, price, sale price, SKU and stock, and publish it to your shop.
Each product is a page on your website at /shop/product-name/, with its own pictures, price and buy box. This article shows a physical product. For downloads, services, packages and plans, see the other articles in this section.
Create the product
Go to Store → Products and click Add New (1).
Store → Products Type the Product name (1) and click Create draft (2). The edit screen opens.
Name your product
Add the summary and pictures
- Check the name at the top (1). It's the internal name in the admin and the headline on the page.
- Type a Summary (2): one or two sentences shown under the name and on the shop cards. Search engines also use it if you don't write a meta description.
- Under Product photos, click + Add images (3).
- In the Media window, click one or more pictures, or click Upload files to add new ones.
- Every picture needs alt text (a short description for Google and screen readers). If one has none, PageShift asks for it: type it under Alt text and click the button at the bottom again.
- Drag the pictures to change their order. The first picture is used on the shop cards.
Fill in the product details
The Product details box is on the right, below Header and footer.
- Choose the Product type (1). For something you ship, choose Physical product.
- Type the Price (2) in your main currency.
- To put it on sale, type a Sale price (3). It must be lower than the price. The page then shows the old price crossed out.
- Type a SKU (4) if you use product codes. It's shown in the buy box.
- Type the Stock (5): how many you have. Leave it empty for unlimited.
- Type the Weight (kg) (6) if you like.
- Click Publish (or Update later) at the top right (4 in the first screenshot).
The product is now on your shop page and has its own page.
What visitors see about stock
| Stock | The product page says |
|---|---|
| Empty | In stock (unlimited) |
| 6 or more | In stock |
| 1 to 5 | Only 3 left (with the real number) |
| 0 | Out of stock |
When a buyer puts more in the cart than you have, the cart lowers the quantity and tells them how many are left.
Change the page layout
Below the details is the visual editor with your product page. Boxes with a dashed outline show values from the details (name, summary, photos) and update by themselves. You can move, restyle or delete parts and add sections like any page. Reset this page's layout starts again from the standard product design (the current layout is kept in Revisions).
