Set up your store

Choose your currency, turn on the cart and checkout, and decide how orders, downloads and the cart button work before you add products.

The Store module lets you sell products, services, downloads and plans on your website and take payments. Do this setup once, before you add your first product. Only Administrators can change the store settings.

You find the store under Store in the sidebar: Store → Store holds orders, payments and settings, and Store → Products holds your products.

Choose your currency

  1. Go to Store → Store and open the Settings tab.
  2. Choose your Main currency (1). You type all your prices in this currency.
  3. Under Currencies visitors can choose (2), tick other currencies you want to show. Visitors then get a Currency menu on product pages.
  4. Choose Rounding for converted prices (3), for example Whole numbers (2,843).
  5. Click Save settings at the bottom.
Store → Settings: currencies

Converted prices use a daily exchange rate. The Exchange rates table shows the Daily rate for each extra currency. To fix a rate yourself, type it under Your rate (optional). Clear it to go back to the daily rate. Update rates now fetches fresh rates right away.

Turn on the cart and checkout

Under Product button and checkout you choose what the main button on a product does:

  • Inquiry: the button opens your contact page with the product's name. Nobody pays on the website. Set the Button text and Button link at the bottom of the card.
  • Cart and checkout: visitors add products to a cart and order on your website. Until you set up payment methods, orders are saved as Awaiting payment and emailed to you and the buyer.
Shop, order numbers and checkout settings
  1. Keep Shop ticked (1). Untick it only if the website just takes payments after a form (see Take payments on forms). Then there is no shop page and the sidebar item is called Payments.
  2. Type an Order number prefix (2) if you like, for example SRR. Orders are then numbered SRR-1001, SRR-1002 and so on. Leave it empty to use your site's initials.
  3. Choose Cart and checkout (3).
  4. Under Cart display, choose the Cart style (4): a Floating button that opens the cart page, or a Side panel that slides in over the page. Choose what happens After "Add to cart", where the floating button sits and what it shows.
  5. Type a Message after ordering (5). It's shown at checkout, on the thank-you page and in the buyer's email. For example: "We'll email you within one business day to schedule your service."
  6. Click Save settings (6).

Downloads

Downloads allowed per item (10 by default) and Download links work for (days after payment) (30 by default) limit how often and how long buyers can download files they bought. See Sell downloads.

Next steps

  1. Add your payment methods: Set up payment methods.
  2. Add your business details for invoices on the same Payments tab, under Store details.
  3. Add your products: Add a product.
  4. If you sell physical products or charge tax, set up Tax and shipping.

Who can use the store

Role What they can do
Administrator Everything, including settings, payments, coupons, tax and files
Sales Agent Sees Orders and changes order status. No refunds or sales reports unless you tick them in System → Roles

The three Store permissions in System → Roles are Orders: see them and update their status, Orders: give refunds and Store reports (sales, revenue, CSV). See Roles and permissions.
