PageShift Help

Frequently asked questions

Short answers to the questions business owners ask most about running their website in PageShift.

Short answers, with a link to the full article where there is one.

Do I need to know code to use PageShift?

No. You change text by clicking it in the editor and typing, and you replace a picture by clicking it. Code is only needed for special cases, such as adding a tracking code, and even then you just paste what the provider gives you into Code Snippets.

Where do I sign in?

At your website's address followed by /admin/, for example www.yourbusiness.com/admin/. See Sign in and out.

Can my staff have their own sign-in?

Yes, and they should. Each person gets their own account and a role that decides what they can see and change. See Add your team as users and Roles and permissions.

When I save a change, when do visitors see it?

Right away. PageShift clears its page cache every time you save. If you still see the old version, see Troubleshooting.

Can I undo a change?

Usually, yes:

  • Pages and posts keep earlier versions under Revisions in their settings. Click Restore next to a version.
  • Deleted pages go to the Trash first. Open the Trash and click Restore.
  • An imported HTML page can be undone completely. See Update or undo an imported page.
  • An update can be rolled back in System → Settings → Updates.

Is my website backed up?

PageShift makes a backup by itself before risky changes, such as an update or an import. Turn on weekly backups too, and download a copy now and then. See Backups and updates.

Where do messages from my website's forms go?

Every message is saved in Leads & Growth → Leads, and an email is sent to the Lead Notification Email in System → Settings → General (or to the address set on that form). Messages that look like spam go to Leads → Spam without an email.

Why isn't my website on Google yet?

New websites take days or weeks to appear. Check that Search Engine Visibility is not ticked in General settings, and submit your sitemap.xml in Google Search Console. PageShift makes the sitemap for you. The SEO and search section explains the rest.

Can I change a price on every page at once?

Yes, if the price is listed in System → Settings → Prices. See Change a price everywhere at once.

Can my website be in more than one language?

Yes. Add the languages in System → Settings → General, then use the Add … version button in each page's editor. See More General settings.

Can I add Google Analytics or a Facebook (Meta) pixel?

Yes. Paste your Google Analytics 4 ID in System → Settings → General. Other codes go in Code Snippets.

Can I move my old website into PageShift?

Yes, if it can be delivered as an HTML website zip. See What an import-ready website is and Import a whole website. Old addresses keep working with redirects.

Can I add a landing page someone made for me in HTML?

Yes, with Content → Pages → Import an HTML page. It keeps its own design, and nothing else on your site changes. See Import a single HTML page.

What happens if I turn a module off?

Its menu items disappear, but its data is kept, so you can turn it on again later. See Turn modules on and off.

A module turned itself off. Is my site broken?

No. When a module causes an error, PageShift turns only that module off so the rest of the site keeps working, and emails you. See Troubleshooting.

Can I use the admin on my phone?

Yes. On a phone, the sidebar hides behind the menu button at the top left. Your website itself works on phones too.

Who do I ask for help?

Your PageShift provider or web agency. See Getting help for what to send them so they can help quickly.
