PageShift Help

More General settings

Languages, which page is your homepage, Google Analytics and verification codes, how links look, breadcrumbs, and hiding the site from search engines.

Settings to check on day one covers the top of System → Settings → General: your site title and the email addresses. This article covers the rest of that screen. Only Administrators can open it.

Every change on this screen needs Save Changes at the bottom.

Languages

If you have pages in more than one language, tell PageShift here.

  1. Choose your Main language (1).
  2. Tick the other languages your pages can be translated into (2), for example Spanish.
  3. Click Save Changes.
Languages and homepage in Settings → General

Each page and post now has an Add Spanish version button (or the language you picked) in its editor. The translated versions live at addresses like /es/about-us/, and search engines are told which page is which language.

After you add a language, more choices appear here:

  • Show the language switcher in: the Navigation bar, the Mobile menu and/or the Footer.
  • Switcher style: words (English · Español), abbreviations (EN · ES) or flags.
  • Which flag to show for English, Spanish and Arabic.

Homepage

Homepage (3) decides which page visitors see at your main address. Normally it's Your home page (the page at /). You can choose another published page instead, for example a seasonal landing page.

When you choose another page, its own address redirects to the homepage, so search engines see only one page. Your original home page is kept, and you can switch back at any time.

Deal currency symbol is the sign used for deal values in Leads, for example $.

Google Analytics and verification codes

Under Analytics and verification:

  1. Paste your Google Analytics 4 ID (1). It looks like G-7KD2Q9XH4M. Find it in Google Analytics under Admin → Data streams.
  2. If Google Search Console asks you to verify with an HTML tag, paste the tag (or just its code) into Google Search Console (2).
  3. Do the same for Bing Webmaster Tools (3), or skip it and import your site from Search Console inside Bing.
  4. Click Save Changes.
Analytics and verification

Google Analytics is added to every public page, but not to the editor or previews, so your own editing doesn't count as visits.

Links, breadcrumbs and Search Engine Visibility
  • Link color (1): the color of links inside text. Accent color is recommended. Buttons and cards keep their own style.
  • Links in text: whether links are underlined. Always underline is the easiest for everyone to see.
  • Breadcrumbs (2): tick Show breadcrumbs at the top of pages to show a small "Home / Page" trail. PageShift adds them by itself, so they're always correct. They're never shown on the homepage.
  • External links (3): add nofollow to links to other websites, and open them in a new tab. This applies to every page and post. You can change a single link in the editor's link options.
  • X (Twitter) handle: optional. Credits you when your pages are shared on X.
  • Search Engine Visibility (4): Discourage search engines from indexing this site.
