Update or undo an imported page
Import a new version of a landing page without losing its address, settings and leads, or undo an import completely.
Pages you add with Import an HTML page can be updated with a new version of the HTML file, or undone completely. Both are done from the same screen: Content → Pages → Import an HTML page.
Update a page with a new version
Your designer or AI tool made changes to the landing page and sent you a new HTML file. Import it again over the old one:
- Go to Content → Pages and click Import an HTML page.
- Choose the new file and click Check the page.
- Keep the same Address. PageShift says "This address has a page you imported before" and chooses Update it (recommended).
- Under After the form is sent, choose Keep its thank-you page as it is, or Rewrite its thank-you page with new text.
- Click Import and update the page.
The report title starts with Updated:.
What's kept and what's replaced:
| Kept | Replaced |
|---|---|
| The page's address | The page's content and design, from the new file |
| Its SEO settings (title, description) as you set them | Changes you made in the editor since the last import |
| Its form entries in Leads, still linked to the form | |
| Its thank-you page (unless you chose to rewrite it) |
Undo an import
Undo removes everything that import added. You can undo right after the import, or later.
Right after the import: on the report, click Undo this import and confirm.
Later:
- Go to Content → Pages and click Import an HTML page.
- Under Pages you imported, find the page and click Undo (1).
- Confirm "Undo the import of …?".
A message starting with Undone. lists what was done. For a new page:
- the page and its thank-you page go to the Trash;
- the header and footer it saved as Site Layouts are removed;
- the form it added is removed (but if the form already has entries in Leads, it's kept, so no lead is lost);
- the redirect from its old address is removed.
For an update, undo puts the page back exactly as it was before that update. If the import replaced another page, that page goes back to its address and is published again.
