The Library and global widgets
Insert ready-made sections and pages, save your own sections and page templates to reuse, and make global widgets that change everywhere at once.
The Library holds sections and whole pages you can insert on any page: ready-made ones that come with PageShift, and your own. A global widget is different: it's one item, such as a call button, that you place on many pages and edit in one place.
Insert a ready-made section or page
- In the PageShift editor, click Library (1) in the tool rail.
- Under Ready-made sections, find what you need: Hero (split, with image), Hero (centered), Services (3 boxes), Process (4 steps), Results, Stats (4 counters), Testimonials, Pricing (3 plans), FAQ (with FAQ schema), Call to action or Contact (details and form).
- Click Insert (3).
The section is added below the section you selected (or at the end of the page) in your site's colors and fonts. The message says Change the text and pictures to make it yours. The Contact section uses your first form.
Ready-made pages (Services page, About page, Contact page, Landing page, Case study page) insert a full set of sections at once. They are added to the page; nothing already on it is replaced.
Save a section to reuse it
Made a section you like, such as a quote band or a guarantee? Save it:
- Select the section. (Click any item in it, then the first name in the path at the top of the settings panel.)
- Click Save to library under its name. Or right-click the section and click Save as template.
- Type a name, for example
Quote band, and click OK.
The message says Section "Quote band" saved to your library. It's now under Saved sections in the Library, on every page. Click Insert to add it.
Each inserted copy is separate: changing it on one page doesn't change the others, or the one in the Library.
Save a whole page as a template
- Open the Library and click Save this page as a template (2).
- Type a name and click OK.
It's listed under Page templates. Insert it on a new page to start from the same design.
Export, import and delete
Each saved section and page template has three buttons:
- Insert adds it to the page.
- Export downloads it as a small
.jsonfile. Use Import a template file at the top of the Library to add it on another PageShift website. - Delete removes it from the Library after you confirm. Pages that used it keep their copy.
Global widgets: edit once, change everywhere
Use a global widget for something that must be the same on many pages: a "Get a free quote" button, a guarantee badge, an opening-hours box.
Make one:
- Select the widget, for example your quote button.
- Click the bookmark button (Save as a global widget) next to its name. Or right-click it and click Save as global widget.
- Type a name, for example
Free quote button, and click OK.
The widget on your page is now linked to the global widget. Each name can only be used once.
Use it on another page: open the Add panel. Your global widgets are listed under Global widgets. Drag one onto the page, or select a column and click it.
Change it everywhere:
- Select the global widget on any page. Its settings show which global widget it is (1).
- Click Edit the global widget (2). It opens in its own editor, in a new tab.
- Make your change and click Publish. The message says how many pages were updated, for example Updated on 3 pages that use it.
To change the widget on one page only, click Unlink (edit it here only) (3). That page gets its own copy, and the global widget no longer changes it.
Who can do this
Anyone who can edit pages can insert from the Library and save sections, templates and global widgets.
