What students and parents see
A tour of the student pages on your website (My learning, This week, lessons, Sessions, Grades) and the parents' My children dashboard, as they look on a phone.
Students and parents use your website, not the admin. Their pages use your website's colors and fonts and are made for phones first. They sign in at /learn/sign-in/ with their email (or username) and password. All these pages are private and hidden from search engines.
The links across the top of every student page are My learning, This week, Sessions, Grades and Messages.
My learning
My learning is the student's home. Each class shows the course, the class and schedule, the teacher, a progress bar (6 of 6 lessons done), the next session, and Start learning or Open the course.
Below the classes are Join another class (for a new class code) and See all courses. A paid-offline class waiting for payment shows Send proof of payment here.
This week
This week gathers what matters now: the coming Sessions with Details, homework due with the days left, quizzes to take, and Grades just returned.
Lessons
A lesson shows its content, with the Course outline in a drawer at the top. Students tap Mark complete when they're done, then Next. Progress saves by itself, and Continue takes them back to where they left off.
Quizzes and homework open from the same outline. See Quizzes and the question bank and Homework.
Sessions
Sessions lists Upcoming sessions by day and Past and recordings with their attendance. Each session's page shows the time, the room or a Join button (10 minutes before the start), the materials, and the recording afterward. Students can also tell the teacher they can't come there.
Under Add your sessions to your calendar, students copy a private link into Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or Outlook. New and changed sessions appear there by themselves.
Grades
Grades shows each class's grade (Passing or not), its parts (quizzes, homework, attendance and the passing mark), and every quiz and homework score with the teacher's comments. Report cards and Certificates are linked at the top.
What parents see: My children
A parent signs in with the account the school made for them (see Add students). Their home page is My children, a dashboard for each child: the grade, attendance, lessons done, homework on time and missing work, with charts and a Show as a table link under each one.
Further down are Coming up (next 2 weeks), Missing work, the grades in each course, report cards and certificates, the child's sessions, and Email me a weekly summary.
A parent with several children sees them side by side, then each child's dashboard. For a young learner without email, the parent also sees their username and can Make a new password for them.
Parents never take quizzes or hand in work, and never see other students.
Choose what parents see
By default parents see everything. To hide some of it, go to Settings → What parents see and untick any of:
- Progress in each course (lessons done)
- Grades (each class's grade and the passing mark)
- Each quiz and homework score
- The teacher's comments on their work
- Attendance
- Homework: due, handed in, late and missing
Click Save. It changes both the dashboard and the weekly summary email.
