The class game
Play a quiz live in class: questions on the projector, students answer on their phones, with points for speed and a leaderboard.
The class game turns a quiz into a live game. You show the questions on a projector or TV; students answer on their phones. Right answers earn points, and faster answers earn more. A leaderboard after each question keeps everyone awake, which works well for a safety review at the start of a crew session.
Teachers start games for their own quizzes. Up to 60 players can join one game.
Start a game
- Open a quiz (Teaching → Library → the quiz) and scroll to Play it live in class.
- Choose the Class (1). With a class, you can save the scores to its gradebook at the end. Choose No class (just for fun: scores aren't saved) for a practice round.
- Click Start a class game (2).
The game plays the quiz's Multiple choice, True or false and Picture choice questions. The card says how many of the quiz's questions can be played.
Students join on their phones
The game screen shows a QR code, the join address (/learn/game/ on your website) and a 6-letter code.
- Students scan the QR code or open the address and type the Game code.
- They type Your nickname (signed-in students get their first name) and tap Join the game.
Their names appear on the screen as they join. Click the × next to a name to remove a player.
Play
Click Start the game when everyone's in.
The question and its answers appear on the screen, each with a color and a shape. A timer counts down (20 seconds by default).
A question on the projector Students tap the matching color and shape on their phone.
The answer buttons on a phone When everyone has answered or time is up, the right answer shows, with how many picked each one, and the leaderboard. Click Show the answer to stop the timer early.
The answer and the leaderboard Click Next question. After the last one, click See the winners.
At the end, click Save the scores to the gradebook to keep them: each signed-in student's share of right answers counts as a graded try of the quiz. Guests' scores aren't kept. Click Close (or End the game at any time) to finish.
