A tour of the PageShift editor
The parts of the PageShift editor, where to find each tool, and the keyboard shortcuts that save time.
The PageShift editor is where you design your pages. You see the page as visitors will, with your header, footer, colors and fonts, and you change it by clicking on it.
Open the editor
- In Content → Pages, point at a page and click Edit with PageShift.
- Or open the page and click the blue Edit with PageShift button at the top.
The editor fills the whole browser window. To go back to the page's settings, click the P at the top left.
- The tool rail (1): Add (widgets and sections), Layers (every item on the page), Library (saved and ready-made sections), Site styles (your colors and fonts) and History (every change since you opened the editor). The magnifying glass at the bottom searches everything.
- The left panel (2) shows the tool you picked. Add is open when you start.
- Your page (3). Point at anything to see its name; click it to select it.
- The settings panel (4) shows the settings of what you selected. When nothing is selected, it shows tips and an Add a section button.
- Desktop, Tablet and Phone (5) show the page at that screen size. See Design for desktop, tablet and phone.
- Undo and Redo (6). See Undo changes and restore old versions.
- Publish (7), or Update on a page that's already live, puts your changes on the website. Next to it are SEO, Preview and Save draft. See Publish, save drafts and schedule.
Next to the page title, a badge shows Live for a published page or Draft for a draft.
More room to work
- The buttons at the far left and far right of the top bar hide the left panel and the settings panel. Click them again to bring the panels back.
- The sun (or moon) button switches the editor between dark and light. It only changes the editor, not your page, and the editor remembers your choice.
Find anything with Ctrl+K
Press Ctrl + K (or click the magnifying glass). Type what you want: a widget ("button", "map"), an item on the page, or an action ("layers", "preview", "add a section"). Use the arrow keys and press Enter. Press Esc to close.
Site styles
Site styles in the tool rail shows your site's Accent and Secondary colors and the fonts for Headings and Body text. Changing them here and clicking Save site styles changes every page of your website, the same as Design → Design Settings. Only people whose role includes design settings can save them.
SEO from the editor
Click SEO in the top bar to open SEO for this page: a score, the checks on the page as it is now, and the page's SEO settings (focus keyphrase, SEO title, meta description, social sharing and more). Click Save at the bottom of the panel. The SEO section of this guide explains each setting.

Who can do this
Anyone who can edit pages can use the editor: roles with Pages and Global Blocks, such as Editor. A role with only Case studies can open case studies in the editor, but not other pages. System pages, such as the "Page not found" page, can only be opened in the editor by Administrators.
