Add Microsoft Clarity
Record how visitors use your pages with Microsoft Clarity's free heatmaps and recordings, and see its key figures in PageShift.
Microsoft Clarity is a free tool that records visits and builds heatmaps, so you can see where people click, how far they scroll and where they get stuck. PageShift adds Clarity to your public pages for you, and can show its figures in the admin.
Who can do this
- Only Administrators see the Setup forms.
- Anyone whose role has View performance reports sees the behavior report.
Add Clarity to your website
- Sign in at clarity.microsoft.com and create a project for your site.
- In Clarity, open Settings → Overview and copy the Project ID (letters and numbers, about 10 characters).
- In PageShift, go to SEO → Microsoft Clarity.
- Paste it in Clarity Project ID (1). You can also paste Clarity's whole tracking code; the ID is picked out for you.
- Keep Don't record me or my team (2) ticked, so your own visits aren't recorded.
- Click Save (3). The badge says On.
- Click Check installation. It confirms the Clarity code is on your homepage. Visits appear in Clarity within about 2 hours.
If Check installation says the code wasn't found and you just saved it, clear the cache under System → Settings → Performance (and your host's CDN cache if you use one), then check again.
Show Clarity's figures in PageShift
Recordings and heatmaps stay in Clarity (Open your Clarity dashboard ↗). To see the main figures in your admin:
- In Clarity, open Settings → Data Export and click Generate new API token (you need to be a project admin).
- In PageShift, paste it in Data Export API token (4) and click Save token (5). The badge next to Show Clarity's figures here says Connected.
PageShift saves one snapshot a day and builds the history itself. The Visitor behavior card then shows Sessions, Visitors, Scroll depth, Active time, Rage clicks, Dead clicks, Quick backs and JavaScript errors, daily charts once there are two days of data, Pages with the most frustration and By device.
Click Remove token to stop the figures. The tracking code keeps working.
