Tax and shipping

Set tax and shipping in Store → Store, on the Tax & shipping tab. Only Administrators can change them. The checkout adds them to the order summary as soon as the customer picks their country.

Charge tax

1. Tick Charge tax (1).
2. Under Your prices, choose:
   • Don't include tax: tax is added at checkout. A $100 product with 8.81% tax costs $108.81.
   • Already include tax: totals stay the same, and receipts show the tax included.
3. Type the Label customers see, for example Sales tax or VAT.
4. Type the Default rate (%) (2).
5. To use another rate for a country, choose it under Rates by country and type its rate. Use 0 for no tax. Click Save tax and shipping to get another empty row.
6. Tick Charge tax on shipping too if tax applies to shipping in your area.
7. Choose the Country selected by default at checkout (3), usually your own country.
8. Click Save tax and shipping at the bottom.

Set up shipping

Shipping applies to physical products only. Downloads, services and packages ship for free.

1. In the Shipping card, fill in the empty zone: a Name (4), for example United States.
2. Type the Rate for an order.
3. Type Free over: orders above this amount ship for free (0 = never).
4. Pick the Countries in this zone. Hold Ctrl (or Cmd on a Mac) to pick several.
5. Click Save tax and shipping. A new empty zone appears for the next one.

Under Everywhere else, choose what happens for countries that aren't in any zone:

• Keep Ship to countries not in a zone (5) ticked and set a Rate and Free over for them, or
• Untick it to ship only to your zones. Customers from other countries then see "Sorry, we do not ship to that country yet." and can't order.

Examples

The order details, invoice and reports show the shipping, tax and country of each order. Affiliates earn commission on the price before tax and shipping (unless you change that in the affiliate settings).
