Import a single HTML page
Add one page made in HTML, such as a landing page from an AI tool, as an editable PageShift page with its own design, header, footer and working form.
Import an HTML page adds one page to a site you already have: for example a landing page for an ad campaign, made by a designer or an AI tool. The page keeps its own look, fonts, animations and menu, its form sends to Leads, and nothing else on your site changes. You can undo it afterwards.
To import a whole website instead, see Import a whole website.
Who can do this
Administrators can. You can let another role do it by ticking Pages: import an HTML page for that role in System → Roles (see Roles and permissions). It's off for Editors by default, because an imported page can add its own scripts and forms.
Upload and check the page
Go to Content → Pages and click Import an HTML page (1).
The Import an HTML page button on the Pages screen Under The page, click Choose File (1) and pick the
.htmlfile, or a.zipwith the page and its pictures.Click Check the page (2).
Upload the page
PageShift reads the page and shows what it found. Nothing is saved yet.
- What's in this page lists the title and main heading, the number of sections, the header and its menu, the footer, the forms that will send to Leads, and what search engines will get.
- Lines marked Note or Check need a look, for example "Links to pages that aren't in this upload" or "Files the page uses that aren't in the upload". You can still import; fix them afterwards.
- Safe for your site reminds you what won't change.
Choose how to import it
Under How to import it:
Address (1): where the page will be, for example
/free-hail-inspection/. It's suggested from the file name or the page's own canonical address.Old address (2), optional: if the page was online before at another address, type it (for example
/hail-inspection.html). Visitors and search engines are sent to the new address.Header (3): This page's own header, Your site's header, another header from your Site Layouts, or No header.
Footer (4): the same choices for the footer.
Address, header and footer You can change the header and footer later in the page's settings. Under Keep for later, the page's own header and footer are saved as Site Layouts, so you can use them elsewhere. They show only where you choose them. If the page has its own fonts, Fonts lets you keep them or use your site's fonts.
After the form is sent (5): choose Create a thank-you page for this page (recommended). PageShift writes the heading and message from the page's own words, for example "We'll call you within one business day…". Change the text if you like. Or choose Send visitors to a page you already have.
Search engines (6): leave Hide this page from search engines (noindex) unticked so Google can find the page. Tick it for a page only for ads or emails.
Publish (7): untick Publish the page right away to keep it as a draft only you can see.
Click Preview (8) to see the page in a new tab with your choices.
Click Import the page (9).
If the address is already used
If another page uses the address, PageShift asks what to do:
- Replace it: the existing page is kept as a draft at another address, and you can undo;
- Use a different address: type a new one.
Some addresses, like those starting with /admin/, belong to the system and can't be used.
After the import
The report shows where the page is, which header and footer it uses, the form and its thank-you page, the SEO settings and the redirect, and confirms that nothing else on your site changed.
- Edit with PageShift (1) opens the page in the editor: click any text or picture to change it.
- View the page (2) opens it as visitors see it. Page settings holds its address, header and footer, and SEO.
- Undo this import (3) removes it again. See Update or undo an imported page.
