Import people from a spreadsheet
Add your whole team at once from a CSV or Excel file, check a preview, and add only the rows you tick.
If your team list is already in a spreadsheet, import it instead of adding people one by one. You match the columns, check a preview, and only the rows you tick are added.
Prepare the file
Use one person per row, with headings in the first row, for example:
| First name | Last name | Job title | Department | Location | Manager | Kind of work | Start date | Work email |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Brandon | Hill | Roofer | Field crews | Colorado Springs yard | Marcus Reyes | Full-time | 2025-05-12 | brandon.hill@summitridge.example |
- Save it as CSV or Excel (.xlsx), up to 5 MB.
- Only the first name is needed. Without a start date, the import uses today.
- Manager can be a name or an email, of someone already in Team or someone further up in the same file.
- Departments and locations that don't exist yet are added too.
Not sure? Click Download a sample file (1) on the Import screen and fill it in.
Import
Go to Team → People and click Import.
Choose the file (2) and click Upload (3).
Upload a spreadsheet Match the columns. Team guesses from your headings. For each field, choose the column it's in, or Not in the file. The First name (needed) column is required.
Choose what Dates like 03/04/2026 mean: month first (March 4) in the United States, or day first (3 April).
Click Preview.
Match the columns Check the preview. Each row shows its status:
- New: will be added (ticked).
- Already there: someone with the same name or email is already in Team. They aren't added again.
- Problem: …: for example no first name, a wrong email or a date Team can't read. These rows can't be ticked.
Untick anyone you don't want, and click Add the ticked people (1).
The new people appear in People, with their managers, so the org chart is ready.
