Install PageShift on your hosting
Put PageShift on a new website in about ten minutes, with the setup wizard. No technical skills needed.
You only do this once for each website. If someone installed PageShift for you, skip to Sign in and out.
What you need
- Web hosting with PHP 8.1 or newer and a MySQL or MariaDB database. Most hosting plans have both (for example Hostinger, SiteGround, Namecheap or any cPanel host).
- Your domain pointed at the hosting, with SSL (https) turned on.
- The installer: the file
pageshift-install-5.99.44.zip.
Step 1: Make an empty database
- Sign in to your hosting control panel (for example hPanel or cPanel).
- Open MySQL Databases (sometimes called Databases).
- Create a new database and a database user, and give the user all privileges on the database.
- Write down the database name, user name and password. You'll need them in a minute.
Step 2: Upload the files
- Open your hosting's File Manager and go to your website's folder (often
public_html). Make sure it's empty. - Upload
pageshift-install-5.99.44.zipinto that folder. - Extract (unzip) it there. You should see folders such as
admin, appandassets, and a file calledinstall.php, directly inside the website folder. - Delete the zip file.
