The Pages list
Find any page on your website, see which pages are live or drafts, and change titles, addresses and status without opening the page.
Content → Pages lists every page of your website: your homepage, service pages, contact page, landing pages and so on. Blog posts have their own list under Content → Posts.
- The views (1): All, Published, Drafts and Trash, with how many pages each holds. Click one to see only those pages.
- Search pages (2): type part of a page's title or address, for example
gutteror/services/, and click Search. - Filter (3): show only one type of page, such as Pages, Services or Case Studies. Other content types you have, such as Products, are listed here too.
- The row links (4): point at a page to see what you can do with it (see below).
- SEO (5): a colored dot that rates the page's SEO title, meta description and focus keyphrase. Green is good, orange needs work and red means they are missing or too short. Pages hidden from search engines have no dot. Open the page to see what to fix.
The Date column shows when a page was published, or when a draft was last changed. Drafts show — Draft after their title, and the homepage shows a Homepage badge. When you have more than 50 pages, a pager at the bottom shows the rest.
What you can do with a page
Point at a page's title to see its links:
| Link | What it does |
|---|---|
| Edit | Opens the page's settings screen: title, address, SEO, header and footer, revisions. |
| Quick Edit | Changes the title, address, status and publish date right in the list. |
| Edit with PageShift | Opens the page in the PageShift editor, where you change what visitors see. |
| View / Preview | Opens the live page, or a preview of a draft, in a new tab. |
| Duplicate | Makes a copy as a draft. See Duplicate, trash and restore pages. |
| Trash | Takes the page off your website and moves it to the Trash. |
Quick Edit
Quick Edit is the fastest way to rename a page, fix its address or take it offline.
- Point at the page and click Quick Edit.
- Change the Title (1). This is the page's name in the admin.
- Change the last part of the Address (2) if you need to. Use lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens.
- Choose the Status (3): Published or Draft.
- To publish the page later, pick a Publish date (4) in the future. See Publish, save drafts and schedule.
- Search engines lets you Hide a page from Google, for example a thank-you page.
- Click Update (5). Press Esc or click Cancel to close without changes.
When you change the address of a published page, PageShift sends visitors from the old address to the new one. The message says so: "The old address now redirects to …". The homepage's address can't change; Quick Edit says This address can't change (homepage or system page).
Change many pages at once
- Tick the pages (1). Tick the box in the table header to select every page on the screen.
- Choose an action in Bulk actions (2): Publish, Move to draft, Duplicate, Hide from search engines, Show in search engines or Move to Trash.
- Click Apply (3).
The count next to Apply shows how many pages are selected. Before moving pages to the Trash, PageShift asks you to confirm.
System pages
Click System pages next to the heading to see the pages PageShift shows by itself: the "Page not found" page, newsletter messages, store pages and more. Each one has Edit and See it live ↗. You can change their text and design like any page; they are hidden from search engines.
Who can do this
Anyone whose role includes Pages and Global Blocks can open this list and change pages. The ready-made Editor role has it; the Sales Agent role doesn't. The Import an HTML page button only shows for roles allowed to import pages. See Roles and permissions.
